Freestyle had the privilege of photographing a one year old birthday celebrated in the traditional Tongan way. The event was held at Chipmunks Playland in Manukau City, with plenty of great music, great food, and lots of dancing. There was an elaborate cake, beautifully decorated.
As photographers, it’s really important that you blend into the crowd, almost becoming a part of the celebrations. In this instance, our photographer even did a little bit of dancing! Even while mixing with the crowd, it’s very important that the photographers pay attention and ensure they’re in the right place to photograph key moments such as the cake cutting and the Fakapale, money given as a gift to a dancer performing a tau’olunga.
