World Homeless Day took place on Tuesday, October 10, and Freestyle Event Photography was invited to record the activities for the day that were held in Freyberg Square and the Ellen Melville Centre in central Auckland.
Organisations that support the homeless showcased their services in gazebos clustered around the square.
Offerings during the four-hour event included free haircuts from Brown Pride and free showers and laundry facilities from Orange Sky.
Food was provided courtesy of Nando’s Queen St, Kiwiharvest, Sunday Blessings, and South Kaipara Good Food. The slight rain did not seem to dampen the atmosphere at all.
Freestyle’s brief focused on documenting the various providers, including their branding, as well as the lunchtime meal being prepared and served. The two-hour shoot yielded 91 photos which were edited by the Freestyle Event Photograph site for team and supplied to the client, Sunday Blessings.
